Airport workers rally for safer working conditions, heat protection

Against the backdrop of roaring jets, airport service workers gathered outside Terminal A at LaGuardia Airport last week to demand that their employer, Alliance Ground International, address what they said are unsafe working conditions, particularly those brought about by excessive heat. 

The workers, who handle cargo, passengers and ramp services for several airlines and are backed by 32BJ of Service Employees International Union, said they lack access to water, breaks and proper training.
