ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — A bill tightening digital stalking and harassment laws was front and center in Albany Wednesday.

It’s called the Ceasing Repeated and Extremely Egregious Predatory, or CREEP, Behavior Act. New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes and Assembly Member Jessica González Rojas are sponsoring the legislation.

The bill would allow civil courts to issue anti-stalking orders of protection without requiring an arrest.

Advocates for the bill rallied at the State Capitol. New York is one of a small handful of states without this type of protection. The act has already passed the State Senate and now heads to the Assembly.
